Paul Ryan joined Dynasty as Managing Director, Telecoms/EMEA in January 2014, with responsibility for overseeing the firm's activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Based in Brussels, Belgium, Paul has over 20 years of transactional, commercial and regulatory experience in the telecommunications sector, having closed transactions with a value in excess of $10 billion. Throughout his career, he has successfully developed strategies that maximized commercial opportunities through creating strong relationships between business and external stakeholders, including political leaders and policy makers. Paul has proven operational experience, particularly in challenging environments and on thorny public policy issues, and has a reputation for redefining industry structures and reshaping the nature of competitive interactions within an industry for commercial advantage. Paul's experience encompasses licensing, spectrum awards, fibre, cable, MVNOs, satellite, TV, interconnection, towers portfolio management, next generation strategy and product development, pricing, security, wholesale, crisis management, reputation and regulatory risk management. Paul is also an expert on the mobile app ecosystem and the economics of the internet.
From 2002 to 2013, Paul held a variety of C-suite and board positions with Vodafone and its operating subsidiaries, including Head of Strategy, Regulatory and Political Affairs in Brussels and Director of Strategy and External Affairs for Vodafone Ireland and Vodafone Ghana. Prior thereto, he worked as a management consultant in the European telecoms sector and served as a Strategic Advisor at Ofcom, the United Kingdom's regulator for the communications industry. He currently advises a range of clients including, on EMEIA government affairs, a Fortune 500 company that designs, develops & sells consumer electronics, computer software and personal computers.
Paul is a qualified solicitor in the United Kingdom and holds an LLB from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
